Ocoee Field Trip

Today we went to the Ocoee River on a field trip with the home-school group. First we did a program on lizards and snakes. We went on a walk and saw two kinds of lizards. Then we went inside and the park ranger showed us three kinds of snakes: a corn snake, a king snake, and a rat snake. We also got to touch them.

Afterwards, we went down to the river and another park ranger had us look for insects and crawdads. We caught several large crawdads, and many other insects including water striders. We got to put them in a container with a magnifying glass. The crawdads were cool up close.

Sorry that there aren’t any pictures— Dad forgot his camera.

I wish I could have been there. My kind of trip. Can’t believe you touched the snakes. I got some good pics the other day of a praying mantis. He was bright green. And a green tree frog jumped into Barbara’s hair the other evening. I heard her hollering and went into the kitchen to find out what was going on. I got a good laugh. I put him back outside.
