Smoky Mountain Trip

We went to the Smoky Mountains this past week, and we had a great time. On the first day, we drove through Cade’s Cove. There are several old homes and churches and even an old mill. I thought the mill was especially interesting. During our drive through, we saw 7 deer. The next day we drove through the park again on our way home. As we drove up the mountain, it was very cloudy and we could see snow on the top. When we got to the top, there was a some snow on the ground, but we had climbed above the clouds and it was sunny and very nice. The view down the mountain on the clouds in the valley was beautiful. We stopped to hike a little on the Appalachian Trail (about 1/2 of a mile), just to say that we’d been on it. We also saw 2 turkeys during our drive. On the way home, we also stopped in Bryson City and took a hike there, which was still in the park. We saw three waterfalls, and they were all very pretty. At one of the visitor centers, we got passport books for the national parks where you can record which ones you’ve visited. I can’t wait to visit some more!
