Hike to Rocky Bald

Went with two families on a 3.4 mile hike on the AT this afternoon. We actually went the wrong way, but were still rewarded with a wonderful view. The AT crosses through NC about 45 minutes from our house. Everyone had a great time, even though it was a little cool and very windy.

Coming back we stopped at a trout farm for a few minutes and then stopped to watch some kayakers go over a waterfall. Some were experienced–others, not so much. There are a couple of videos on Facebook. WordPress won’t let me put up videos.

The girls had a great time and all did well even though we ascended over a 1000 feet in the course of 1.7 miles. The trip back down was much quicker, though a little harder on the toes.

I’m just now catching up on your blog. I hate to be dense, but what is AT?? I’m so glad y’all are getting to see the countryside around there. That is such a pretty part of the U.S. Are they doing any of the mining around you??
