Sailing

When I friend called this afternoon and wondered if I wanted to go sailing, I said, “Sure!” What I didn’t know was that this wasn’t a sailboat like I had in my mind: a canoe like thing with a sail sticking up from the middle. It was an 18′ catamaran with a 30′ mast. Much like the one below.

Very cool and lots of fun. The wind wasn’t blowing hard enough to get one side out of the water, but we were still clipping along at a good pace (and that might have been a little unnerving anyway). It was a beautiful day on Lake Hiwassee. The picture below is the same lake from a different spot from when we first came out here last July.

Another benefit to living here!

Sounds like fun! Hope it is cooler there than here.

At our house it is usually 5 or more degrees cooler than in town. It has been in the 90s all week in town, but hasn’t hit 90° yet here. The heat index at the airport last week was 112°. I don’t know what it was yesterday. It didn’t feel to hot at the lake. My guess is that it was low to mid 80s out there. We’ve been opening the windows every morning and not having to turn on the air until the afternoon.
