Biscuit Pies over the Fire

Roasting marshmallows, making smores, smelling like smoke—that’s the usual around a fire, right? Yesterday at the youth event, we learned something new.

First you need something besides a coat hanger. We were using some tools especially made for task: a block of wood attached to a dowel rod.

Then you carefully form the biscuit around the end of the block of wood. First make sure you spray the wood with Pam or something similar.

Next you slowly rotate the stick over the fire.

When it is done, remove it from the stick, fill with pie filling, top with whip cream,

 

and enjoy.

The rest of the afternoon was taken up riding bikes

and playing flag football.

Before all of that we had a great lunch of smoked turkey and pork, homemade macaroni and cheese, and baked beans. After it was all over, we went back to Andrews as I was preaching at the Community Thanksgiving service. It was a long but very fun day.
