August Weather and Weekend Miscellaneous

A cooler (by 2°) and wetter (by 2″) August than last year. While the rain has tapered off a bit in the last week or so, we got over 12″ in July and August. Two years ago, September 5th was the first morning in the 40s. Last year, it was September 10th. For the last two years, we’ve had over 7″ of rain in September. We’ll see what this year holds. I’m just hoping the yard will quit growing so fast!

While Texas started its high school football season last night, NC played week 3. Haven’t been to a game, but the defending state champion Murphy Bulldogs are 2-1 so far this year. There’s probably a better chance of seeing a high school soccer game this year. Two of the high school kids who go to our church play soccer: one for Murphy and one for Andrews. It will be fun watching them play each other in a few weeks. We’ll be another year without any Longhorn football, except internet radio (if the stations stream the games). Though we are still holding out hope that some friends of ours can get some tickets to the A&M/Auburn game in late October. It’s about a four hour drive from here.

Lauren’s band has been invited to play again on Oct. 13. In addition to that, Lauren has also started playing some in church during communion as well as going with me and playing at the nursing home where I do a service once a month. After taking the summer off, she will start up lessons again this month.

Last night when I was taking pictures of the full moon (you did notice that I helped the moon feel a little “bluer”), the moon lit up these clouds. This is at 1/8 of a second.
