Black Balsam Knob

When posting about Camp Cherokee last week, I realized that I never posted anything about our two week vacation to Texas. But that will have to wait as Monday we went up on the Blue Ridge Parkway for Dana’s birthday and did some hiking.

There are several “balds” around here, mountains with no, or very few, trees growing on top. There are several of those just off the parkway. With all the trees around here, it’s a rather odd sight to see treeless hills that are still quite green. Thankfully, we got all our hiking in before a storm blew in.
